I reread my review of ACOTAR before starting this review and practically laughed my ass off. I mean, did I or did I not basically guess the true love of Rhys and Feyre before I had even thought about reading the second book where their love was CONFIRMED?
I need people to know that this book is 626 pages long and I read it within two days. If that in itself is not a shining star of a book review then I don't know what is. After I finished the first book I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep reading the series, after I finished the second book I immediately started researching how expensive boxed sets of this series was so I could buy it for myself instead of waiting for the third book to become available at my local library.
Ok, so what happens? Feyre is suffering after surviving the trials Under the Mountain. Every night she wakes from brutal nightmare after brutal nightmare and Tamlin is no help. Instead of trusting she can take care of herself, he locks her away in the Spring Court and refuses to help her train the powers she inherited from the rest of the High Fae. She should be happy: engaged to a beautiful man who obviously loves her, Lady to the gorgeous Spring Court, and hero of the Fae, but when Feyre panics halfway down the aisle towards her future with Tamlin it's Rhysand who comes to her rescue.
Rhys whisks her away to the Court of Dreams, a city that remained hidden even during Aramantha's reign. Slowly Feyre begins to realize that Rhys isn't anything like the bloody High Fae she had been led to believe. Instead she comes to see Rhys as he truly is; a caring and gentle man who's only wish is to live in a peaceful world, equals among his fellow fae and humankind. As Feyre works together with Rhys and his inner circle of generals in the upcoming war with the King of Hyburn, it becomes evident that she and Rhys may be more than just allies and possibly more than friends.

Ok, so what did I think? If I could wipe my mind of this book I would. Not because I hated it, but because I loved it so. Goddamn. Much. That I want to experience it for the first time again. There is absolutely nothing wrong with 99% of this book and the 1% that is wrong with it is that it ends on an absolutely devastating cliffhanger that made me want to fight the nearest person.
This book has everything that a seasoned fanfic reader like myself loves:
Enemies to lovers (yes, like ACOTAR, but BETTER)
There's only one bed (eyes emoji)
Brooding, snarky, tall, dark, and handsome (get the fuck outta here, Tamlin)
Fucking SOULMATES
If I could curl up in this book I would. I would sleep in the Court of Dreams and never leave. Sorry if you guys were expecting some kind of beautiful musing of the characters and the plot because this review is basically a keyboard smash of how much I fucking loved this book. I can guarantee you if I had read this series when it originally came out I would have made this entire book series my personality like some girls made Twilight theirs or how I made Harry Potter mine for a huge chunk of my life. If you love any of the above fanfiction tropes there is no doubt in my mind you will be obsessed with this book and this series.
Quite frankly it was a little embarrassing going to the library to return this book. Without trying to be too obvious I had to give this book an extra squeeze and another rifle through the pages (CHAPTER 55. HELLO?!) before letting it slip through my fingers. But you know what they say - if you love something set it free. If it was meant to be it will come back to you. Or, you know, it'll come back to you when it arrives in the mail after you frantically order the box set.

Things I want to see in the next installment - OBVIOUS SPOILERS AHEAD:
Obviously more Rhys and his found family because I want to be a member of his inner circle
And like...duh, more Rhys and Feyre because they are utter perfection
Lucien needs to pull his head out of his ass, but also I want him to find happiness with Elain because he is really just a bystander in all of this. Maybe not quite innocent, but also he realizes that maybe not everything his leader is doing is correct
Finally, holy shit do I want Feyre to beat the shit out of Tamlin. I want her to prove to him that his sexist ideas of how a woman is supposed to act in his world is incredibly outdated and limits the pure power the fae world and the world as a whole could have. Women are powerful and its time he and everyone else aside from Rhys and his Court of Dreams to realize that. *insert feminist roar here*
Long Story Short:
This book made me absolutely feral in a way that I haven't been in a very long time
YES FEMINISM
Sometimes sequels are better than the original. Whodda thunk?
My Rating: 1000000000/5 ... ok, fine 5/5
